Security control rooms are a must have for a lot of businesses and factories. Controlling who comes and goes is imperative to maintaining a secure working environment, particularly when a lot of product is being manufactured on site and security is taken very seriously. These security control rooms should have access to all CCTV cameras on site as well as being constructed in a prominent position so that the security guard can see exactly who and what is arriving at the site. For the sites that utilise barriers that are to be manned by a security guard, a good security control room would have good visibility and be able to allow communication with a driver or visitor, either by intercom or interaction actually at the control room itself.
The epitome of a secure system would be a control room with high-definition screens showing the view from different CCTV cameras around the site that can be interchangeable. Security guards should be able to communicate with the rest of the site so a good phone line and/or electronic system is a must. Controls to different barriers around site is always helpful and secure facilities for storage of keys, key cards or other items is a good extra to consider.
Let’s not forget the comfort of the security guards themselves. If doing shifts that last a certain amount of hours, the basics need to be available to them in close proximity so that they can be on duty at all times and not distracted. A small kitchenette area and toilet facilities should be included in or near to a security control room to ensure security guards are nearby at all times.
All companies are different so it stands to reason that security control rooms can be different and unique to that company. With modern technology, a control room can be at the peak of all security and functional requirements whilst still fitting in well with the company and its operating procedures.
